[00:00] Rachel: Welcome to the Cosmic Inn. This is a place to unpack how we create our reality, from the metaphysical to the practical. Together we’ll unwind tangled topics about manifestation, mindset, and the big ideas that shape how we experience life and create the future each and every moment.
[00:30] My name is Rachel. I’m your host and tour guide through the exploration of existence. This is our very first episode ever. Yay! It kicks off season one of the podcast, so in this episode I’m gonna get a little more into what to expect from the podcast, just overall this season’s theme with some episode details and I’ll tell you a little bit more about me and answer eight rapid fire questions so you can get to know me a bit better.
[01:02] And you’ll get a sneak peek at the next episode as well. So hopefully by the end you’ll have a better idea of the itinerary for this season and whether you want to stay at the Cosmic Inn or if you’re going to check out and never return. But I do hope you stay and if you do enjoy your time here, please subscribe or follow the podcast and leave a review. It helps us out a lot.

I’m going to talk a little bit about the role that AI plays or doesn’t play in creating this podcast and I’m sharing the origin story of the Cosmic Inn. So that is just for guest pass holders.

Plus we’ve got other exclusive content discounts at the gift shop and invites to workshops and events at the Inn. Go check it out and I’m really excited to share what this podcast has to offer and what this season will bring. So let’s get into it.
[03:03] Before I even get started. I want to give credit for the music that’s used throughout the podcast. It was produced by an artist named Latasha. And she’s just this incredible entrepreneur, artist, musician, mixing technologies with art and really future forward in how artists can take autonomy for their work because as the music industry is so toxic and really set up in a way to profit from the talents and the efforts of musicians. And so she just takes such a different approach to that and takes a real leadership role in shifting the systems around that.
[03:54] One reason why I love her so much is because her lyrics are rooted in manifestation and mindset and really empowering. So I encourage you to go check her out. You can follow her on Instagram at @callmelatasha.
[04:12] First question I always get is, is the Cosmic In a real place? And the answer is no, not yet anyway. Right now it is digital only and we have a website at cosmicin.ca but one day I’d love to have like a retreat center somewhere in the woods where folks can come and engage in community and self discovery. And certainly in the future we’ll have retreats hosted at other people’s places s there is a real world element to Cosmic Inn, but it’s not a real place as of yet.
[04:53] The Cosmic Inn is a metaphor inspired by a mashup of concepts really stemming from this idea that you are the universe experiencing itself in spacetime, that’s the cosmic part. And the philosophy, wherever you go, there you are.
[05:12] You are the Cosmic Inn. Everywhere you go, you’re at this place. And everything else is the cosmic inn as well. Your environment, the earth, the solar system. It’s like ins within ins within ins. *laughs
[05:31] But the word in like I-N-N can also be a play on words. In inn like a place you can stay and visit, much like our time limited stay on Earth, in your body and in I-N like the exploration of your internal reality. There’s more to it than that. I can rant on and on and on about the metaphor because you could just keep going and going with it and playing it with so many ways and hopefully you’ll get more of a sense of that as the podcast goes on, as the seasons go on.
[06:08] But the reason for the Cosmic Inn is to explore reality and existence from a broader perspective, especially as it pertains to our circumstances in our lives, from our health to our relationships to our finances, our mindset, whatever it is, I always had this, you know, underlying question about what is reality and why are we here and what’s my purpose and all those kinds of things. Ever since I was a teenager so I’ve picked up all these things over the years, years through spirituality and personal development, metaphysics, quantum physics, the whole, the consciousness, all those kinds of things. I’ve read so many books. I’ve been a part of many, many programs and teachers who teach on this kind of stuff with regards to universal laws and business and creating things.
[07:16] And I’ll get more into it later, but I wanted to have a place where I could kind of share it all. What is reality and why are we here and how do we create change and transformation? And I think really at the end of it or the heart of it or the core of it is this is not maybe the best word, but because I think it’s a bit overused but to say, awaken people so that they realize, so we all realize, oh, hey, we’re creating our realities each and every single moment, every single day, and we’re shaping the future and as human beings, we are maintaining energetic systems and we’re doing it in such a habitual way, in such an unconscious way that we’re creating this kind of garbage mess of society at the same time as some really beautiful things in the world too. Right? And so how can we become more consciously aware so that we are creating better systems, better futures, not only for ourselves in the now, in the moment to moment, but also for our children and our children’s children and for humanity as a whole. So I hope to cover topics overall in The Cosmic Inn the podcast as well as the website. Topics like manifestation, co creating with the universe, quantum leaps, which I don’t. I hate that term. And I’ll have an episode that talks about that, but it’s all from an angle that’s scientific, spiritual and practical.
[09:00] I do plan to have guests from time to time to share their insights and expertise, as well as to have more conversational podcasts. So it’s not just me, like yapping at you the whole time. And just as a disclaimer, because we’re exploring topics that aren’t fully understood, like reality, you know, we don’t really know what reality is, so I may say things that are later proved wrong or inaccurate. I’m also somebody who’s constantly learning and growing, so I may have an opinion or a thought about something that later I just go, oh my gosh, I don’t know why I ever thought that because that’s silly. I’ve since learned from them so I want to say I know the nature of Podcasts is such that, you know, we’re etching this into a semi permanent record in for a period of space time. And I just want to put a little caveat and say, hey, I get to change my mind at some point, right? I’m open to new ideas and to exploring things.
[10:08] And the other thing I want to say is because the nature of podcasts are short compared to an in depth book on a subject. I probably won’t get into all the research and nuance of a lot of things but know that when I talk about something, I typically have a depth behind what I say that I don’t get a chance to articulate fully so I know there’s complexity and I try consciously not to make blanket statements about things or imply that something is universal or concrete or anything like that. I try to avoid words like always and never things like that. So just know that I understand that there’s complexity to things and because podcasts are short, we can’t always get into the depths that are behind a statement or a thought or an idea.
[11:07] So that’s just a little disclaimer. Keep in mind as we go along this season is the foundations of manifestation. I thought that was a really great place to start. I’ll tell you what all the episodes you can expect. There’s going to be 13 episodes this season. This one is episode one, which is just an introduction and what the season is about. So that’s it. We’re in it. We’re in it, baby. Season one, foundations.
[11:39] Episode two is entitled Room Keys to Reality. We’re going to explore what reality is, how perception, beliefs, experiences define what we see as real and we’re going to discover the keys to unlocking new ways of understanding and interacting with the world around you that, you know, I’ve already been recording a little bit of that episode and I gotta say, it is long because not only am I covering like what is reality like quantum sense of it. I’m talking about like the quantum fields and stuff like that but then I’m also talking about how the brain works and how we perceive those quantum interactions and perception and stuff like that so it’s a bigger episode but I think it’s really going to lay the groundwork for a lot of the rest of what we’re talking about this season.
[12:37]Episode three, we’re going to talk about Checking In to the Universe so we’re going to reflect on the interconnectedness of all things and what it means to be part of a greater cosmic creation. So this episode is going to explore how understanding that you are the universe can make a powerful difference when creating the life you want. There was a time when I would be like, “Universe, am I on the right path?” and then I’d realize, wait a minute, I am the universe. I’m creating the path. I hear a lot. The universe is testing you. That’s some of the things that you hear sometimes. And I’d be like, well you are the universe. Are you testing you? Maybe you are because you bring meaning to every situation and if it means that you’re testing you or being tested, then that’s true. You’re right. But yeah, so we’re going to get into, like, how and why you are the universe, and I find that actually really helps and opens up how to approach creating anything in your life.
[13:48] Episode four, Manifestation Myths and Misconceptions. This is probably one of my favorite ones we’re gonna debunk common myths about manifestation, such as the idea of quantum leaps. Oh my gosh! I have things to say about this. The concept of blocks, I have even more to say about that. And the belief that you need to vibrate at a particular frequency to succeed. Oh my gosh, these things could really honestly, they could make you feel so bad. I was listening to one sound bite from the woman who does the Secret, Rhonda Byrne, I think is her name. And it was just this sound clip of her. And she said, “the only reason you don’t have.” That was a terrible Australian accent. *laughs
[14:38] She’s like, “The only reason you don’t have the money that you want is because you’re blocking your manifestation and I was like, what are you talking about? Because I had just finished reading her sequel to the book The Secret, which I think is called The Power. And in it she says that she was $2 million in debt when she created the movie, The Secret. If she wasn’t having the finances that she wanted at the time, it wasn’t that she was blocking it, it was needing to come into form. And for some of you who may be listening and you are working on something or you do want some kind of change in your life, it needs to come into form. It’s not that you’re blocking it and I’m really sick of these little sound bites that try to make you feel bad for where you’re at and so we’ll do myths and misconceptions. And then later I actually do have an episode about time as well. I’ll get to that in a second. Getting all excited now. I’m excited about The Myths and Misconceptions episode four,
[15:52] Episode five is Check Your Baggage at the Door. We all carry bits of the past, stories, experiences and assumptions that shape how we see the world. So this episode explores how we cherry pick from our past to create narratives that distract us from new possibilities that’s all that, that kind of stuff is and we’ll talk about that influence that your memory has, your experience has and all that how that contributes to your ability to create and thrive in the moment.
[16:28] Episode six has a working title of the Portal of Belief but I don’t like that title. But here’s a synopsis, so beliefs act as powerful gateways to what we experience, opening or closing doors to entire worlds of possibility. So this episode explores how shifting beliefs can reveal possibilities you didn’t even know existed and transform your reality, and we’ll probably get into as well the concept of limiting beliefs and how they influence your actions.
[17:05] Episode seven is going to be Room Service Manifestation. What if the energies around you were like room service delivering your desires when you place an order? Wouldn’t that be nice? We’re going to explore how to align intention, action and spiritual energy to manifest effortlessly.
[17:28] Episode eight, we’re going to talk about From Thought to Form. I’m excited about episode four, but episode eight is something I’ve never heard anybody else talk about. I don’t know where even I got it from if I pulled it from the void and it is a completely original idea, I’m not really sure. I don’t think anybody ever talked to me but this is going to probably be the episode where you’ve never heard somebody say this before. I’m gonna talk about how turning a thought into reality involves the flow of passage of energy, bridging the gap between ideas and physical creation. I don’t want to give too much of it away, but it’s wholly unique so if you don’t listen to any other episode of the show and you’re like, I’ve heard all about manifestation and limiting beliefs. Come check out episode eight because I I think it’s gonna blow your mind when it comes to the idea of thoughts being real and how they become manifested into form.
[18:42] Episode nine, You Can Check Out Anytime You Like, But You Can Never Leave. And yes, that is a quote from the Eagles. As human beings, we’re constantly manifesting, shaping each moment into the future through our attention and our actions. So this episode reflects on the inescapable nature of creation and how we can embrace it consciously and not be afraid or worried about this idea that we’re always manifesting and how that’s actually a good thing.
[19:17] Episode 10 is Timelines and Checkout Times. So energy needs to flow for circumstances to change and that flow is what we call time. We’re in space time that’s what it is, the flow of energy. So this episode is going to explore patience, the unfolding of events, and the illusion of urgency in manifestation.
[19:38] Episode 11, Chaos in the Lobby so life doesn’t always unfold smoothly. I gotta stop saying so. I feel like I’m starting very many sentences saying so. *laughs
[19:53] If you played a drinking game to my podcast, it would be every time she says so. Take a shot.
[20:01] This episode explores how you’re always on the right path when you have intention, and how unexpected events can simply be part of the journey towards your desires. I heard a really good quote from Michael Caine, the actor, and he says use the difficulty and it was an acting tip but he applies it as a life philosophy and I love it and I’ll talk about that in the episode as well.
[20:29] Episode 12 is Keys to the Penthouse. Everything you want is yours. This episode explores the foundation we already have and offers insight into walking towards our desires to witness their natural unfolding. And really episode 12 is about stress free manifestation because that’s usually the nicest, funnest way to do it, right? When you’re not worried about it. When you’re worried about it, manifestation feels heavy and stressful so Keys to the Penthouse explores this idea of relaxation. It’s coming.
[21:16] Episode 13 is our season finale. So our season finale is always called Souvenirs. We’re going to recap the season’s takeaways on the Foundations of Manifestation and get a sneak peek of season two and you can we can talk about or think about what you will take from your stay at the Cosmic Inn.
[21:38] That is our season one, the Foundations of Manifestation and all the episodes that you can expect. The plan is to release an episode every two weeks on Sunday on your favorite streaming platform and if you are a guest pass holder, you can come check out the bonus material at cosmicinn.ca. If you’re not a guest pass holder, go sign up. Go get yourself a pass. You can check it out if you don’t like it Cancel.
[22:13] All right, so a little bit about me. Who the heck am I? My name’s Rachel. I was born and raised and I live in Toronto, Canada which is situated on the traditional territory of many nations including the Ashinabe, the Chippewa, the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Wendat peoples. At the time of recording this episode, I am 44 years old. Oh no wait, that’s not true. I’m still 43. I am turning 44 in one week actually as of recording this. I’ve got two school age kids and an old cat named Martok who drives me crazy, meowing at me all the time. The cat has lost his dang mind. And for those of you who know, that is Martok from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
[23:06] So I am a big Trekkie and a 90s trek really did influence my outlook on life and humanity and society and hope for the future and diversity and inclusivity and gender rights and all the things. I was watching that at a very influential age, starting at maybe 10 or 11 and then really into it, you know, like 13, 14, 15 years old. I am an entrepreneur with a background in marketing, but my career has been really eclectic so my post secondary education is actually in sciences and environmental technologies and biochemistry. As a hobby, I’ve done a lot of community theater over the years both on stage and offstage in tech roles. I’ve worked with kids throughout my volunteer work and career, mostly school age and teenagers as well. I’ve also worked in ministry in a Christian organization so I don’t consider myself religious anymore. I wouldn’t ascribe myself or attach myself to the Christian church but I am spiritual and I’m all for Jesus. But nowadays my philosophies around spirituality are much larger and encompass more than just a Christian aspect of it, which is really just an amalgamation of other religions anyway but I could go on and on about that as well. I do have some experience in television and producing television shows, directing television shows, doing technical things for shows. I think that stemmed from my community theater background events background, so live events all that kind of stuff as well. And I’ve actually co hosted a podcast before many years ago and it is since not anywhere online I don’t think.
I think it’s been scrubbed from the Internet, but maybe you can find it. And I’ve been a co host on for other podcasts and guests as well so I do have some podcasting experience also.
[25:33] So why host a podcast about reality? I think I kind of touched on it a little bit earlier but ever since I was really a teenager, I just had this like real heavy almost depressive weight on my shoulders of like, what is reality? It really started with being a teenager and being told I had to pick a job and work for the rest of my life. I was like, what? why? That sounds like that sucks. Well, I was born to like come and work for the rest of my life. What? No! So it really kicked off this and then plus like watching Star Trek and stuff like that and seeing this better society it just opened up all these questions of like, well, why are we living like this? What is my purpose? What is this reality thing? So I’ve studied loads of topics on metaphysics. I’ve got that science background so I’m familiar with the scientific method and what good experiments or research looks like. I’ve always been into personal development. Literally actually since I was a teenager I was in leadership camp and crazy stuff like that and even for decades reading books on leaderships because I would often run an organized volunteer. There was a lot of learning about leadership and personal development so that’s always been a thread, and then of course as a business owner, you’ve got to grow, you’ve got to expand, you’ve got to be resilient, you’ve got to be able to pivot and your business is only as good as you are.
[27:27] It can only be as good as you can be. That development has been a thread even more so, even more hardcore in the last decade. And I’ve just like, I love consuming books and documentaries in quantum physics, consciousness, philosophy, just really metaphysics, just really broad topics. I’m right now in my audible is a lecture series on metaphysics and one of the things that there’s talking about is does the mind even exist? These are questions that don’t actually have answers, those kinds of things. So that’s a little bit about me, but I’m gonna do something a bit more fun which is answer some rapid fire questions.
[28:15] I’ve got some questions here and they’re kind of based on the Stephen Colbert questionnaire, if you’ve ever seen that. I think some of these modified though. So question number one.
Question #1: What’s the best sandwich?
[28:30] Rachel: That would be a turkey dinner sandwich. So leftover roast turkey, the stuffing, cranberry sauce, put some mayo in there. The gravy, if you’ve got the gravy still delicious. If There was bacon on the turkey, throw that bacon in there. What’s beautiful about this sandwich, too, is you can only have it a couple times a year, it’s a very exclusive sandwich, but it’s delicious.
Question #2: What do you geek out over?
[29:03] Rachel: What I love is minerals and fossils. And I absolutely geek out over minerals and fossils. I like to collect them. I like to look at them. I like to touch them.
Question #3: What’s the scariest animal?
[29:22] Rachel: That would be orca whales. They are highly intelligent, complex societies and they’ll eat you. No, they won’t eat you. I don’t know if they’ll eat you, but they seem like. Don’t f* With them. And I’m saying this long before they started attacking boats, all right? Like, I know kind of recently there was some news that they were attacking boat that there was a pod and I had this sentiment of orcas for years.
Question #4: Ketchup chips, yes or no?
[30:04] Rachel: Well, I am Canadian and I will tell you, it is a 100 percent yes. Ketchup chips, yum.
Question #5: Do aliens exist?
[30:15] Rachel: It would be statistically improbable if they didn’t exist. So I would say, yes, that they exist. Are they on planet Earth? Do they cohabitate with us? I don’t know. I think I could probably go on about this subject, but I love watching those shows, those streaming shows about UFOs and alien abductions and all that kind of stuff and it’s very interesting to me. So do aliens exist? Yes. Do they visit Earth or are they already here? I don’t know.
Question #6: Canadian musician or band you enjoy.
[31:03] Rachel: I truly like a ton of Canadian music but one I will say is, I think, think not appreciated enough is Carly Rae Jepsen. All right, y’all gotta get on the Carly Rae train because it’s fantastic pop music.
Question #7: Favorite smell.
[31:23] Rachel: This is kind of a funny one because for a while, my answer to this question would be the smell after it rains. I like that in the springtime when it rains. And I recently learned that that smell is caused by some kind of microbe. I can’t remember if it was a fungus or a bacterium, but human beings can smell it better than sharks can smell blood and water. And I just thought that was so fascinating. I was like, wow, there’s something about us that is hardwired to smell that smell and I like it.
Question #8: What are you excited about these days?
[32:10] Rachel: You know what? I am darn excited about this podcast. I’m enjoying producing it, I’m enjoying talking on it, all the things. And I’m really excited for this upcoming season and more seasons to come.
[32:27] So that’s a little bit about me and the show. This season we’re gonna explore Manifestation be on the surface level. We’re going to bust some myths about it and back up the woo aspects with some actual science so that you can get aligned with the life you want to create for yourself and your community. If you have a guest pass, check out the bonus video where I’m sharing a behind the scenes of creating the show. If you don’t have a guest pass, learn more about it and sign up at cosmicinn.ca.
[33:00] Join me on the next episode, Room Keys to Reality, where we will be exploring the nature of reality. We’re going to talk about what is it all built out of? The quantum particles, basically we’ll talk about that and energy and, and how we how our brain processes all of this information around us from the biological filters to the psychological filters, and how that means that we are in fact building reality not really as it is, but how we’re perceiving it. Which is just an amazing kind of thought to think like there’s all this stuff happening and going around us and we’re just making it up.
[33:52] I think this episode really sets up what we’re diving into this season on the Cosmic Inn Podcast so you don’t want to miss it. If you haven’t already, go ahead and subscribe or follow the podcast and leave us a five star review. Write something nice. It helps us out a lot. I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit.
